The museum was impressive: we appreciated the fantastic collection. Very bad for us was the limited number of sanitary facilities, and also very hard to find. We were very satisfied and tired after the visit.

Despite I have booked the tour in English the actual tour was in English Spanish language. That was the only défaut! Ticket reservation was very easy and our guide Miguel kind and knowledgeable about the museum, he gave us a lot of useful information and made the tour very interesting. Overall it was a very good experience!

Getting in and having special access was fundamental to enjoying the tour and avoiding the long queues at the door. Avoiding the long queues was the highlight of choosing to buy the tickets through the APP, the ease of purchase, the quick turnaround and the communications too. Just one observation: the tour is long and it's practically impossible to do it all in one day. Another important point of this ticket is the possibility of visiting any day within a year and on any day of the week and at any time. However, this is good for those who can be in Madrid for more days and organize their schedule. That's fantastic!

We really enjoyed the tour. The guide (sorry that I forgot to ask for her name) is knowledgeable and we can feel her passion for arts and culture. I loved how she organised the tour for the art museum and showed paintings that have connections. Really appreciated.

Apparently, many others had early entry, as the Prado was rather crowded. Nevertheless, our guide was superb, and both museums were very interesting. Both should be on the list for anyone visiting Madrid

Designed in 1785, the building initially served as the Natural History Cabinet before becoming an art museum in 1819.

It was first named the Royal Museum of Paintings and Sculptures and later the National Museum.

The museum opened with 311 paintings and has since grown to include over 2,300 paintings, along with sculptures, prints, and drawings. Due to the rapid increase of its collection in the 19th and 20th centuries, the building has been expanded multiple times.

The Prado complex also includes the Casón, originally a ballroom of the Buen Retiro Palace. It once housed Picasso’s “Guernica” from 1981 to 1992, and now hosts the Prado Library and the museum’s study center.
