Our Guide (Blanca) was really knowledgeable and gave us an insight to a selective number of paintings. Without this we would have just looked at them and moved on without really understanding the background and the art. It has changed the way we approach our visits to such venues and would look to book a personal guide again rather than just access to the building

Our guide David was super knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. He seemed to navigate the crowds very well - though we were just a small group. Things got off to a bad start as we did not know how to identify our guide or group! There were four or five people in jackets sitting around with "Fun" on them, but they made no effort to engage with us.

Our guide, Blanca, was absolutely fantastic. She brought the masterpieces to life with her engaging and interactive explanations. Thanks to her lively storytelling, even my 7-year-old son was fully captivated throughout the entire 1.5-hour tour—he didn’t complain once! Time flew by, and we all came away with a deeper appreciation for the art. Thank you, Blanca, for making the experience so memorable!

We started at Tysenn. Everything went very smoothly, the accreditation and the entrance. Not so in the Pardo (the second visit) where there was the main queue and a second shorter queue (20' wait) to accredit the QR code. With the Reina Sofia we finally had a second shorter queue, but as there were less visitors there were a couple of minutes of waiting.

1) I was confused when I got to the venue as to why I didn't already have a ticket. At one of the venues, the ticket office person initially rejected it as a valid voucher. I had to explain to her that it was. 2) the tour groups at the Prado make the experience impossible to enjoy for independent travelers. You should try to reserve certain hours of the day when tour groups aren't allowed to operate. They monopolize all the masterpieces.

I preferred the visit to the Prado Museum because it was set up differently albeit by the same guide. It was also richer in information about the historical and cultural background of the time when the works were created. The first part at the Reina Sofia museum, I found the museum's reception of the group poorly organized, with lots of downtime. The guide in presenting the works gave so much space for open-ended questions to the group about the feelings the paintings conveyed that I found it scattershot. The guide's knowledge of the works was impeccable.

I have booked and paid for 6 people for the palace and museum tour. However when we reached the Naturanda office at the appointed time, we were told only 1 person was booked by mistake. Consequently our tour was cancelled and full refund was promised. I hope you will look into this and refund my money back ASAP. We ended up lining for the palace entry tickets for 45 minutes to visit the palace and missed the Prado Museum altogether !! It was such a disappointing experience. I think you owe us an apology and full explanation beside a full refund. I am looking forward to hearing your reply.

Our guide Marta was amazing! She was very knowledgable and great storyteller. I am also very grateful to her and the whole team for being very caring to my mother, who was slow walker. Marta was always thinking about her - elevators, skipping stairs etc. Amazing Marta!

It was nice. Good route and nice audios while going around. The only thing I didn't like was that it is named "Hop on Hop off tour" but its a bus without stops, so especially with kids it would have been better to have that option of going down whenever you'd like.

ould have been a great tour but there were no stops - unfortunately also no real visible info prior bying the tickets. That's a huge dissatisfaction for some of the spots we would have liked to visit a bit longer and continue the tour later which was not possible - but the tickets were already bougt.

Plus points: - always good to have a general view of a city - the 2 routes - historical & modern - are interesting Minuses: - too bad there weren't any intermediate stops so you could get off/climb to visit the sights - not all audio outlets worked properly - staff a bit nitpicky: with QR-Code + validity date, excessive to ask for printed tickets again

Getting in and having special access was fundamental to enjoying the tour and avoiding the long queues at the door. Avoiding the long queues was the highlight of choosing to buy the tickets through the APP, the ease of purchase, the quick turnaround and the communications too. Just one observation: the tour is long and it's practically impossible to do it all in one day. Another important point of this ticket is the possibility of visiting any day within a year and on any day of the week and at any time. However, this is good for those who can be in Madrid for more days and organize their schedule. That's fantastic!

It was nice to be able to see Madrid above street level because then you really see how beautiful the buildings are. The tour itself was not very fascinating little was told about the history of the city or certain places, just which architect designed it. I would have liked to hear a little more.

I bought the tickets thinking I'd be able to get on and off at the places I wanted (HOP ON/OFF), but all I got was misleading advertising. The place to catch the bus was also not the most central or suitable for those on foot. It was worth the driver giving me some tips on how to get around Madrid by bus for free.

The ride and the audio guide were very good. What was not good was that there was no indication at the time of booking that there are currently no more hop-on hop-off tours in Madrid, only panoramic tours without stops. It was therefore not possible to get on the bus near our hotel as we had intended, so we had to ask around and walk to the starting point at the Prado MUSEUM.

Top things to do in Madrid

If you spent a minute on every artwork in the Prado, you’d be here for more than 24 days. That’s how massive it is—over 2,000 pieces on display, with nearly 18,000 more in storage. But don’t let that overwhelm you. The trick is knowing what to look for. Goya’s haunting Black Paintings, Velázquez’s Las Meninas, Bosch’s surreal Garden of Earthly Delights—it’s impossible to see everything in one visit. But that’s the beauty of it! Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, the Prado always has more to show you.

Before we jump straight in, here are some things we bet you didn’t know about the Prado Museum! Let’s see how many you can tick off!

Did you know these about the Prado Museum?

  1. Money heist gone wrong
In 1961, an unusual theft attempt occurred when a thief tried to enter the museum from the ceiling. Unfortunately for him, he fell through and died during the attempt, making it one of the more bizarre incidents in the museum's history.

  2. Where it all started
The name "Prado," which translates to "meadow," refers to the location where the museum was built, originally a meadow known as the Hieronymites' meadow. The museum was officially named "Museo del Prado" in 1920, although it was initially known by other titles such as the Royal Museum of Paintings.

  3. The "First Gioconda"
The Prado is home to a lesser-known painting that some refer to as the "first Gioconda." This refers to a work that predates Leonardo da Vinci's famous Mona Lisa and showcases the influence of earlier portrait styles on later masterpieces.

  4. The largest painting in the collection
The largest artwork in the museum is The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist by Bartholomäus Strobel, which measures an impressive 280 cm tall by 952 cm wide. This monumental piece exemplifies the grand scale of some of the works housed at the Prado

  5. The "Spanish David"
The museum is home to a sculpture known as David by Donatello, which is one of only three known versions of this iconic work in existence. This piece is significant for its artistic merit but also for its rarity within the context of Spanish collections.

Tips to help you visit Prado Museum better

  • Seek out lesser-known works in the museum’s collection, such as José de Ribera's “The Clubfooted Boy” or Francisco de Goya’s “The Milkmaid,” which are often less crowded but equally captivating.
  • If available, join a thematic tour focusing on Spanish Romanticism or Baroque art. These tours often dive deeper into specific periods and styles, revealing connections between different artists and their works.
  • If you need a break, head to the museum’s reading room, which offers a quiet space to reflect on what you’ve seen and access art-related literature.
  • Restrooms are located on the ground floor near the café and another set near the temporary exhibitions area. Knowing their locations can save you time, especially during busy hours.
  • For a more peaceful experience, seek out quieter galleries like Room 50, which often has fewer visitors. This allows for uninterrupted viewing of masterpieces like Raphael's "The Cardinal."
  • Similarly, if you feel overwhelmed, take breaks in quieter areas like Room 51C, which houses 12th-century frescos. This room is often less crowded and offers a serene environment to regroup.
  • The Prado Café, located on the ground floor, offers light meals and refreshments. Plan your visit around lunchtime (between 2pm and 4pm) when crowds tend to thin out.
  • First time? Well, some paintings might look a bit…complicated, and honestly, not everyone’s a pro! But say you’re intrigued about a piece of art, what do you do? Just scan the QR right by the painting. These QR codes are strategically placed next to certain artworks, allowing visitors to scan them with their smartphones. The QR codes can link to multimedia content, including videos and audio guides, which bring the artwork and its background to life!
